Russia’s unjust war against Ukraine is a crime against humanity. Putin’s army is deliberately and knowingly targeting civilians, residential communities, schools, maternity buildings and hospitals. The cities of Mariupol, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy have been carpet bombed by Russia’s ground and air forces.
Thousands of civilians have been buried in mass graves because the Russians refuse to halt their attack and have even targeted convoys of Ukrainians leaving their homes in search of safety in other cities.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are leading the national resistance against Russia’s invasion and are keeping Ukraine’s cities safe and secure.
Local fire and rescue workers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are the first on scene conducting search and rescue operations and extinguishing fires. They are de-mining and clearing debris from the liberated cities and villages, so that displaced Ukrainians can come home. They are assisting in documenting war crimes committed by the Russian military.
Ukraine’s First Responders have been working 24/7, rescuing families from damaged buildings. They have saved thousands of lives, provided food, water and shelter for those affected by the war.
Following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, fire and rescue units from around the world answered the call to help New York and Washington, D.C. manage their responses to the emergency.
Ukraine’s First Responders need our help including training, medical supplies, communication devices to enhance their capacity, personal protective equipment to keep them safe as well as backend office support to enhance their digital infrastructure.
